Delhi Air quality remained in very ‘poor category’

Delhi’s air quality stayed in the extremely helpless classification on Tuesday even as the base temperature slipped to 9.8 degrees Celsius.

The 24-hour normal air quality index (AQI) read 329. It remained at 389 on Monday. The city had recorded air quality in the extreme classification for three days on the jog.

Delhi had recorded a minor improvement in air quality because of positive breeze speed. The adjoining urban areas likewise saw some improvement in AQI contrasted with the readings the earlier day, with some moving to poor from extremely poor.

Faridabad recorded 274, Ghaziabad 291, Greater Noida 272, Gurugram 346 and Noida 298.

The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday said the base temperature in the first part of the day was recorded at 9.8 degrees Celsius. The general dampness was around 88% at 9.30 am.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences’ air quality screen SAFAR on Monday had shown that positive nearby surface breeze speed on Tuesday is probably going to bring slight alleviation.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Monday had said the prohibition on development and destruction exercises in Delhi would proceed till additional orders considering the high air contamination levels.

The restriction on the passage of trucks notwithstanding those occupied with fundamental administrations will proceed till December 7, while CNG and electric trucks will be permitted to enter Delhi, Rai said after a survey meeting with authorities of the offices concerned. PTI
